Translation services we provide for embassy documents
Translation Agency of Manitoba provides certified translation in 50+ languages and notarized translation for documents used with embassies and consulates. Our service is online across Manitoba. Some receiving authorities may require an apostille, authentication or consular legalization after translation; we do not provide those additional services. Confirm the current requirements directly with the receiving authority, then upload your document for a translation or notarization quote.
How to prepare documents for an embassy
Most embassies and consulates in Canada will not accept Manitoba-issued documents as they are. A birth certificate from Manitoba Vital Statistics, a transcript from U of M or U of W, a court order from the Manitoba courts, or an oilfield service certificate usually has to be translated by a certified translator first. Some destinations also require an apostille, authentication or consular legalization; these are handled by the relevant authority, not by Translation Agency of Manitoba. Confirm the exact requirement with the receiving institution before you start.
Standard checklist
- Confirm the destination country's exact requirements directly with the receiving authority or consulate (translation, notarization, and whether an apostille or legalization is needed).
- Order a certified Manitoba translation into the destination language. Most files are English-to-X; French-to-X is available for Franco-Manitoban and Quebec-issued records.
- Add notarization by a Manitoba notary public when the consulate or foreign authority asks for the translator's certification to be notarized.
- If an apostille, authentication or consular legalization is required, arrange it with the competent authority. We do not provide those additional services.
- Confirm acceptance with the receiving institution overseas before couriering any originals.
Requirements differ by destination: some countries accept a Hague apostille while others still require full consular legalization, and the rules change over time. The receiving authority sets the requirement, so confirm the current process directly with them before sending documents abroad.
