Translation for Use Outside Canada: Certified, Notarized, or ATIO?

If your document is going to an embassy, consulate, foreign registry, university, or authority outside Canada, the most important step is confirming the exact certification level they require. We provide certified, notarized and association-certified translation; any apostille, authentication or consular legalization is handled by the competent authorities, not by Translation Agency of Manitoba.

  • Certified translation
  • Notarized translation
  • ATIO-certified translation
Translation Agency of Manitoba provides certified, notarized and association-certified translation options for documents intended for use outside Canada. The required format depends on the receiving authority. Some authorities may require an apostille, authentication or consular legalization after translation. We do not provide those additional services. Confirm the current requirements directly with the receiving authority, then upload your document for a translation or notarization quote. We can also translate the text of an existing apostille, stamp or seal together with your document.

How to choose the right route

Regular certified translation

Use when the foreign recipient accepts a standard certified translation with affidavit.

Notarized translation

Use when the recipient or consulate specifically asks for notarization of the translator's affidavit.

ATIO-certified translation

Use when the receiving country or institution explicitly requests a certified translator in Manitoba or ATIO-certified translator.

Apostille / authentication / legalization

Some countries require these steps after translation. They are handled by the competent government authorities, not by Translation Agency of Manitoba. Confirm the requirement with the receiving authority.

Not sure what the foreign authority requires?

Upload the file and tell us the destination country and receiving institution. We will confirm the quote and explain which translation path matches your case.

Frequently asked questions

Do you decide the certification type for me?

We can guide you, but the destination country or institution sets the requirement. The safest route is to confirm it with them first.

How much does it cost?

Certified translation starts at $59 + GST. Notarized and ATIO-certified routes usually start at $99 + GST.

What is authentication or legalization?

It is an extra document-validation step some countries require after translation and notarization. It is performed by the competent authorities; Translation Agency of Manitoba does not provide apostille, authentication or legalization services.

Can this take longer?

Yes. If the receiving authority requires notarization, or a separate apostille, authentication or legalization step, plan for extra time. Those additional steps are arranged with the relevant authorities, not with us.
